Diversity and the Remakes

Image
Diversity..or the lack of it in Hollywood For a while the film industry has been accused of being too white, too male, too straight, too American, too narrow. Hollywood didn't care, people couldn't challenge it officially. until 2023 the SAG-AFTRA strikes, writers went on strike due to lack of pay, many pointed out the difference in pay between white people and people of color. Representation and diversity have became a huge problem for Disney. Shang Chi made with a majority Asian cast and direct "Oscars so white" was a massive turning point, it led to a host standing down.  Snow White Remake   A safe way of making profit  Correcting their wrongs  A chance to show how diverse the company is now  From the trailer  Make a women of color  CGI "magic people" No non-consensual kiss i would imagine  Colour blind casting  Snow white has a left domestic roles More independent

Ownership and Audience

Image
Ownership  there are four main owners of news: DMGT (Daily Mail General Trust) -Viscount Rothmere he also owns Daily Mail, Mail on Sunday, Metro, 'i' (formerly The Independent) News International- Rupert Murdoch also owns The Sun, The Telegraph, Sunday Times, Reach PLC- also owns Daily Mirror, Sunday Mirror, The People, Daily Express  The Scott Trust also owns The Guardian and The Observer This suggests a unfair output of news as one person owns over 2 other newspaper's so their political view is being duplicated onto more than one newspaper. Also Reach PLC owning both the Daily Mirror and the Daily Express shows his beliefs on money over morals as they are 2 different- left and ring wing.  Digital news has completely changed the newspaper market plummeting it into the ground as sales decrease from over 9 million a day to under 3 million since 2014.  Newspaper's falloff is one of the biggest we have ever seen. The decrease percentage change of 7...

Newspaper reports

Image
Reporting vs Commenting  7/9 magazines are right-wing and comment on news rather than reporting, whereas the 2 left-wing news are more likely to report rather than comment. However the Mirror does sometimes comment but the Guardian almost never does.   So why are most of the newspapers right-wing viewpoints? Newspaper's are typically owned by wealthy individuals, and most rich people's viewpoints align with conservative political standpoints as they want to keep their money for themselves not be taxed to help services.  2 main types of Newspapers :   {Tabloid    {Broadsheet Steve Neal  Neal believes that genres are not fixed but constantly evolving. Genres influence one another creating hybrid genres. Products that link to another genre create intertextual relay.      For example:   This advert has the genre of a newspaper report this shows intertextuality relay.

Snow white-advancing technology

Film Technology Cels  Transparent sheets of plastic, traditionally made of celluloid, used in the hand-drawn animation process to create individual frames of movement. Animators would draw characters and objects on these cels, which were then layered over a static backgrounds Rotoscoping  its a technique for writing down over it frame by frame to create a more realistic image or to isolate or extract from visual effects  the multi plane camera  its a special motion picture camera used in the traditional animation process that moves a number of pieces of artwork past the camera at varies speeds and distances from one another this creates a three dimensional effect.  technicolor  this was a tenchnilogical breakthrough a camera records it on red green and blue, red gets dyed blue green gets dyed pink and blue gets dyed yellow and they all get animated together to create a colour
