Ownership and Audience

Ownership

there are four main owners of news:

  1. DMGT (Daily Mail General Trust) -Viscount Rothmere he also owns Daily Mail, Mail on Sunday, Metro, 'i' (formerly The Independent)
  2. News International- Rupert Murdoch also owns The Sun, The Telegraph, Sunday Times,
  3. Reach PLC- also owns Daily Mirror, Sunday Mirror, The People, Daily Express
  4. The Scott Trust also owns The Guardian and The Observer
This suggests a unfair output of news as one person owns over 2 other newspaper's so their political view is being duplicated onto more than one newspaper. Also Reach PLC owning both the Daily Mirror and the Daily Express shows his beliefs on money over morals as they are 2 different- left and ring wing.

Digital news has completely changed the newspaper market plummeting it into the ground as sales decrease from over 9 million a day to under 3 million since 2014.
