  The five main conglomerates Disney, Warner Bros, Universal, Paramount and Sony they have control over most films leaving less room for creativity.  Bigger companies have bigger budgets- better CGI, better casting of stars, more ways to market However these big companies dont leave a lot of room for creativity or diversity, they stick to what they know will sell i.e franchises popular genres, popular actors, sequels and remakes.  The ownership for Disney- both Snow White and Shang Chi had access to high budgets as Walt borrowed 10 million from the bank after realizing his budget wasn't enough. This allowed both films to use innovative technology ensuring less of a financial risk.  Snow white- Walt invested in new technology, technicolour, rotoscoping and multiplane camera. Also hired over 700 artists to help draw the animations. Theorist that tie into Film: Hesmondhalgh- Producers try to minimise risk and maximise audiences through vertical and horizontal integration. Repetition reduces Risk.  Shang Chi- although Disney represented diversity, they still kept their commercial framework. Traditional Hero and super-villain story line in order to maximise global profit and reduce financial risk.  Snow White- Disney retold the Grimm brother's tale, that was already loved so less chance of risking failure. Although they did invent a whole new way of film, being the first feature length animation using Technicolor.  Macro- large film corporations in general often use franchises, sequels and remakes to reduce financial risk. Marvel studios showing RDJ as being a new villain in the D23 expo event.  social media engagement- lots of posts dedicated to Wicked 1+2 even now if you search up glinda or elphaba on tiktok it comes up with a special edit of them over the normal screen.  influencer marketing- Dune part II tiktok creators were invited to premieres and sent merchandise. Regulation and the fourth estate

 The press need freedom and regulation in order to ensure there is no bias or lies presented in news.  The press freedom index measures how much freedom the press has in a given country. Scandinavian countries hold the top 3 on the Press Freedom Index.  England is ranked 24th place  And North Korea holds last.  The Fourth Estate  Media and organisations who report the news are seen as having unofficial but strong political influence.  The origin of the 'estates' the term estates is a European word which means to have great power in the political life as a nation.
