Marvel, Pixar, National Geography.

conglomerate- business corporation formed by purchase of other businesses.

Horizontal VS Vertical Integration

horizontal = buying company rivals for example Disney buying Pixar
vertical= buying stages of business for example Disney plus.

Hesmondhalgh, remakes and franchises

In order to minimise risk of a film flopping is to do sequels-repetition. Also relying on big hits to ensure they aren't loosing too much money on films they are unsure will do well. Putting famous movie stars in films guarantees more success, however is less reliable now as people check reviews more often than the cast. Industries try to impose scarcity through copyright. Disney's 'ETERNALS' is a key example of whem marvel switches up the formula and actors the film flops.
